Meet Scott Curts, a live-looping singer-songwriter, guitarist, and producer who turns a single stage into a full-band experience—built completely live, in the moment. No backing tracks. No pre-recorded shortcuts. Just guitar, vocals, beatboxing, and looping layered in real time to create something that feels big, alive, and genuinely human. Scott’s been performing since he was nine, later sharpening his craft at Berklee College of Music where he studied jazz, and he’s spent decades learning the most important skill of all: how to read a room, shape a vibe, and keep people locked in.
Scott’s Florida story runs deep. He relocated to Sarasota in 1990, and one of his first house gigs was at the original Summerhouse Restaurant—back when Paul was the Executive Chef—with a band called Pangaea. Since then, he’s performed professionally his whole life, including 36 years based in Southwest Florida, building the kind of consistency and stage confidence that only comes from thousands of shows. His sound is a wide, groove-forward mix—Reggae, Island, Soul, R&B, Classic Rock, Folk Pop, and contemporary favorites—always guided by what the crowd is feeling in that exact moment.
At Mattison’s, guests can expect a wide variety of groovy loopin’ tunes that can shift from laid-back and beachy to soulful and danceable in the space of a song—because Scott is building every layer right in front of you. His musical north stars make perfect sense for a “blue-eyed soul” artist: if he could collaborate with anyone, it would be Stevie Wonder or Marvin Gaye for that timeless blend of melody, pocket, and heart. And when the set’s done? He’s newly obsessed with the pizza—he recently tried it and loved it enough that he’s ready to “sample more of the menu” to find a true favorite.
Offstage, Scott continues to write and record original music, including his release In My World, which he brought to life end-to-end—performing, producing, mixing, editing, and mastering the entire project himself. He’s also always evolving, developing future projects (including a book exploring his looping technique and creative process). Bottom line: Scott Curts isn’t doing a “looping act”—he’s building a living, breathing soundtrack for the room, one layer at a time.
