Chef Paul Mattison

Talent, experience, and education have made Chef Paul Mattison, a leading success in the culinary business along Florida's Gulf Coast.

Growing up in New York, Chef Paul Mattison gained his culinary foundation from cooking and gardening side by side with his grandmother, Esther.

Working as a bus boy in a Greek restaurant at the age of 15, Chef Paul Mattison was encouraged by the restaurant's owner to attend the Culinary Institute of America. Upon graduating with honors from the Culinary Institute of America, Chef Paul Mattison went to Aspen where he would refine his skills over the next five years working at Piñons, a one of a kind restaurant receiving top kudos from Zagat.

In 1991, Chef Paul Mattison relocated to Sarasota, Florida and was the executive chef/Proprietor of the Summerhouse Restaurant on Siesta Key creating a revolutionary on site cookery school, an alfresco garden terrace and a one-of-a-kind sustainable herb garden. During this time, Chef Paul Mattison also created the winning concept of the Sarasota Bread Company, a working bakery, bistro, and gourmet market.

In September 2001 Chef Paul Mattison and Jason Sango created the Mattison's concept which now includes: Mattison's Catering Company, a full service, award winning in-house and off-site catering company; Mattison's Culinary Outfitters, a custom kitchen design center and boutique; Mattison's City Grille, an award winning al fresco restaurant in downtown Sarasota; Mattison's Forty One, a Mediterranean style, elegant restaurant with a friendly, fun and comforatble atmosphere in Downtown Sarasota; and Mattison's Riverside boasting the most beautiful waterfront view in town along with a highly acclaimed menu with selections from fresh fish and house made sushi to lamb and filet located on the Manatee River in downtown Bradenton.

Mattison's has received several awards and accolades over the years including Florida Trend's "Golden Spoon Award", the Sarasota Herald Tribune's "Readers' Choice Awards", Sarasota Magazine's Best of the Best, SRQ Magazine's Hot List, and many others.

Also known for his philanthropic and community-based efforts, Chef Paul Mattison has received several national service awards. He gives culinary classes and demonstrations for charity organizations like the Boys and Girls Club, Girls Inc. and Selby Gardens and also hosts private small group demonstrations encouraging people to take an interest in cuisine.

Currently, Chef Paul Mattison can be seen regularly on ABC's Channel 7 hosting a weekly live cooking segment, What's For Dinner.  As the national spokes person for Cuisinart Appliances and Cookware, Chef Paul Mattison appears regularly on national television on the Home Shopping Network.  The Emmy winning regional television show, A Gulf Coast Journal with Jack Perkins filmed a segment on Chef Paul Mattison, which aired on PBS in 2006 and can be seen online at www.mattisons.com.

Chef Paul Mattison holds cooking demonstrations, wine tasting events, and regularly conducts personalized culinary adventure tours to Europe where you undergo an irreplaceable hands-on culinary experience filled with history, culture, tradition and of course amazing meals.

 

Mattison's City Grille
Located in the heart of downtown Sarasota, Mattison's City Grille is perfect for Saturday breakfast, Sunday brunch, lunch, dinner, late night dining, and enjoying drinks at our outdoor, covered bar with live music.  Award winning Chef Paul Mattison has created an exciting al fresco menu with an Italian edge from casual sandwiches, to brick-oven pizzas; from mouth watering lamb and fresh seafood, to special salads and appetizers ­ all with Chef Paul Mattison's signature finesse and flair. 
Happy Hour is every day from 3-7pm with drink specials.
Girls' Night Out is Wednesday evenings from 7pm with drink specials.

Mattison's Forty One
Mattison's Forty One is elegant with a friendly, fun, and comforatble atmosphere. The menu includes fresh seafood; Mattison's signature meat dishes like lamb, aged beef, and duck; we have a complete tapas menu, including sushi, calamari, Chef Paul Mattison's signature Artichokes Esther, fresh salads, and more. Mattison's Forty One is family friendly with a kids menu featuring classic yet healthy children's choices. There is live music and dancing every night along with nightly specials and events including Happy Hour, Girls' Night Out, Wine and Beer Events, Cooking Demonstrations and more. Private catering facilities also available.

Mattison's Riverside
Mattison's with an Asian flair and the most beautiful waterfront view in town Chef Paul Mattison combines his Mediterranean flair with a hint of Asian flavor while focusing on fresh seafood, lamb, duck and beef. Mattison's Riverside restaurant and ballroom, found in the heart of downtown Bradenton at the well known Twin Dolphin Marina (built in 1928), not only offers indoor and outdoor waterfront dining but also a large dining deck with an outdoor bar and fire pit; private dining rooms; a sushi bar; a main dining room; live music nightly; and on the second floor is an elegant, private ballroom with stunning views of the Manatee River seating up to 180 people, perfect for weddings, private parties, business gatherings, or gala events.
