It is that time of year when we all start to notice a slight crispness in the air. It hopefully brings us outdoors much more during the day, and keeps us out a little longer to savor the beautiful Sarasota nights. So be sure to enjoy all our events during this Fall, both indoors and outdoors.

At Mattison's Riverside, I will be giving a cooking demonstration featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients. We always have a lot of fun and, of course, we enjoy a great dinner. For all of our wine-lovers, we have also organized a Turnbull Winery wine-paired dinner at Mattison's Riverside in November, and have brought back the ever popular Mattison's Women and Wine 101 (and this introductory session is for both women and men) in November at Mattison's Steakhouse at the Plaza!

Mattison's Culinary Club October Special Double Points Friday

Dine at at Mattison's Steakhouse at the Plaza on Friday, October 5, 12, 19, 26 and you will earn double points on your Mattison's Culinary Club card. Remember, you can earn points on all food and drinks including our daily Happy Hour from 5-7pm in the bar, and Girls' Night Out on Wednesdays.

Enjoy Mattison's City Grille's October Specials and Events

Girls' Night Out is on Wednesdays from 7pm to closing, with two for one cocktails. And don't forget, Mattison's City Grille features live music nightly from 7pm.

Mattison's City Grille will be all decked out for Halloween and will feature a festively-fearful burger platter for $9.95 which includes Mattison's signature cheese burger, with french fries, coleslaw and a scary salad. We will have treats for the kids, a costume contest and ghoulish drink specials including our famous Bat Punch and Vampire's Kiss. Prime Rib Thursdays this month are on October 4, 11, 18, and 25 from 5:30-9pm at Mattison's Steakhouse at the Plaza. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 941.387.2700. Enjoy our Thursday's only Prime Rib with some wonderful live jazz by the amazing Debbie Keeton Jazz Duo from 6-9pm.

Mattison's Women and Wine 101 (this introductory class is open to men too!) at Mattison's Steakhouse at the Plaza's candle lit Wine Cellar is on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at 6:30pm. The price is $30 per person and advance ticket purchase is required, please call 941.387.2700. Join us in exploring sparkling wines from Europe and California as an introduction to the Women and Wine 101 wine tasting series. As the holiday season approaches, this class will help you be better informed when selecting your sparkling wines. Mattison's Sommelier, Annie Howells, traveled to the wine regions of Italy and France this summer and is eager to share her exciting new wine discoveries.

Mattison's Riverside's Specials and Events

Chef Paul Mattison's Seasonal Flavors Cooking Demonstration: Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at 6:30pm, $50 per person (plus tax and tip) and includes a three course dinner with wine. Chef Paul Mattison gives an informative and fun cooking demonstration using his favorite fresh, seasonal ingredients. Start the evening with seasonal pumpkin soup (served in a mini pumpkin), the main course features skate wing, pan seared with a lemon-caper butter, served with Parmesan grits and roasted beets; the dinner is finished off with a plum tarte tatin. Reservations are limited to 20 people call 941.748.8087.

Mattison's Riverside Sushi Class: Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 6:30pm, $50 and includes a sushi feast. These are hands-on sushi classes loaded with lots of fun and information taught by Mattison's Sushi Chef, Neal Carter, who has over 20 years of experience. He will lead the class and be on hand to answer any questions you may have. Each night the class creates one original sushi roll which is the featured sushi special at Mattison's Riverside for that evening. Attendance is limited to ten people per class, reservations are required and can be made by calling 941.748.8087.

Mattison's Riverside will be celebrating trick or treat day with lots of goodies for kids including ghost ice cream and boo pudding, monster dinner specials, live music and frightening drinks. Come dressed in costume, and kids will get a free freaky dessert and a chance to win a Mattison's Culinary Club card. Our sushi bar will run a special on scary spider rolls for all those sushi lovers on Halloween. Reservations recommended 941.748.8087.

Sushi by the Piece: Every Wednesday, October 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31 from 4:30-6:30pm. Mattison's Sushi Chef, Neal Carter, chooses three or four popular sushi rolls to serve by the piece allowing Mattison's Riverside's Happy Hour guests the opportunity to taste one piece at a time for only 75 cents each.
