Depart for Italy.

Sunday, June 9
After arrival in Milan, travel to the picturesque town of Santa Margherita Ligure on the Italian Riviera, where we stay four nights at the four star Hotel Metropole with views of the Ligurian Sea. The afternoon is free to relax and explore this beautiful town. Dine together at the hotel, toast our arrival and get to know your fellow travelers! (D)

Monday, June 10
We visit Villa Durazzo and its marvelous park and Italian-style garden, classified as one of the most beautiful gardens in Italy.  In the afternoon, enjoy a taste of the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, as we take a boat ride to Portofino, the jewel of the Italian Riviera. (B, D)

Tuesday, June 11
Today Explore Santa Margherita. In the morning, roll up your sleeves for a cooking class with Chef Paul Mattison followed by lunch from the group’s culinary creations. The afternoon offerstime to discover the area’s treasures. (B, L)

Wednesday, June 12
Explore Cinque Terre – boating from one town to the next.  We dock at Portovenere, a colorful town on the edge of the Bay of Poets, for shopping and lunch.  An optional walk on the Via della Amore from Riomaggiore to Manarola (two of the five Cinque Terre towns) is the highlight of the day. (B)

Thursday, June 13
Ciao to the Riviera and buon giorno to Tuscany and the town of Lucca! Our five star Hotel Noblesse is located in the historical center of this charming, well preserved medieval town, often referred to as The Forgotten Tuscany. We’ll walk the tree lined walls surrounding Lucca and have lunch in the Piazza dell Anfiteatro, the oval space which occupies the original site of a Roman amphitheater. Lucca is famous for linens, leather and olive oil, so the afternoon is available for shopping. (B, L)

Friday, June 14
We travel deep into Tuscany to the Chianti region where we are treated to a wine tour at the Renaissance castle, Verrazzano. Our tour educates us on how to taste and select wines, the mastery behind how the grapes are grown and harvested, and then how it all comes together with a mouth-watering five-course luncheon and wine tasting.  After this food and wine experience you will truly understand what it means to be Tuscan! (B, L)

Saturday, June 15
The hills of Lucca are rich with history and gastronomical delights. Today we are special guests of the Toscana Saporita Cookery School. Renowned chef and author Sandra Rosy Lotti is our host in her Tuscan villa. She guides us through a truffle hunt, olive oil seminar, and a cooking class.  Then, we dine together at the villa, perhaps al fresco! (B, D)

Sunday, June 16
Arrivederci to Lucca and on to the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. Bologna is the culinary capital and nicknamed La Grassa – the fat! After settling into our centrally located Hotel Corona D’Oro you will have some free time to explore the city. Tonight we dine together as a group. Buon Appetito! (B, D)

Monday, June 17
Visit the farms of Emilia-Romagna producing Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, Balsamic Vinegar, and Prosciutto ham.  We then enjoy a leisurely Italian lunch in a countryside trattoria.  A true cultural and culinary experience! (B, L)

Tuesday, June 18
Enjoy a market tour in Bologna with visits to specialty food shops lead by Chef Paul and a local expert, and then a cooking class in a local restaurant as we prepare both lunch and dinner! (B, D)

Wednesday, June 19
Leaving Emilia-Romagna, we travel to Milan and the four star Hotel Manzoni. Milan is the financial and fashion capital of Italy.  A guided tour of Milan is planned, visiting: Duomo – the most Gothic of all cathedrals, La Scala – famous opera house, and The Convent Santa Maria della Grazie home of Da Vinci’s The Last Supper. (B)

Thursday, June 20
Shop till you drop in the designer stores, or enjoy an optional day trip to Lake Como, viewing the beautiful villas that dot the shores of this scenic lake, including stops in the towns of Bellagio and Varenna. Tonight we have a farewell dinner together to share our memories of a great visit to Italy! (B, D)

Friday, June 21
